EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES "Journal of Emergency Care & Transportation" magazine
The premier edition of EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES - "Journal of Emergency Care & Transportation" magazine (Volume 1, Number 1/November/December) was was launched in 1972. Deborah Carver was the magazines first publisher and Carol Summer served as the Publisher/Executive Editor. The magazine was based at 15300 Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks, California and effectively captured both a national and international field paramedic and EMS perspective. It illustrated EMS as very rich in diversity and innovation across the arenas of both public and private providers. The publication served as a great nexus for information exchange and awareness, begining in the Fall of 1972 when EMS dedicated publications were virtually absent.
The Advisory Board of the magazine included some legendary pioneers including Dr. Frank Pantridge of the Royal Belfast Hospital in Ireland as well as Dr. Eugene Nagel of the University of Miami School of Medicine, Dr. John Wilder of Johns Hopkins University Medical School in Baltimore, Maryland and Dr. David Boyd who was with the Chicago Department of Health at the time.
Today, the publication is known as EMS Magazine ans is published by Cygnus Publications with Scott Cravens as its publisher.
